FIFA World Cup 2026 · the full record
Thirty-five days, 104 matches, 308 goals — reviewed under the same rule the site ran on all tournament: math computed every number, the AI only narrated. This is the whole story on one page.
The final tables as the group stage closed. Winners and runners-up advanced directly; the eight best third-placed teams completed the round of 32.

All thirty-two results. Germany and the Netherlands fell on penalties in the round of 32, Brazil fell to Norway a round later — and the third-place game produced ten goals.
Mostly, yes: the champion cost €1.47bn and three of the four priciest squads reached the semifinals. But Argentina reached the final at €818M, Mexico finished as the tournament's best value-for-money side, and Congo DR reached the knockouts at €134M. Money sets the prior; football still plays the match.
Every simulation was published to an immutable ledger before kickoff, then graded against what happened. The knockout record: 61 of 62 stage placements called. The honest part: match by match the betting market called more (57 of 80 to our 51) and was sharper — and the model still landed both semifinal upsets the market missed.
Once a day, a cron job rewrote the whole tournament as an Obsidian vault — every team, group, match and player a plain-text note, every relationship a [[wikilink]], versioned on its own git branch with a CI guard that fails if a single link dangles.
That is the pattern AI-native apps converge on: the knowledge graph is the memory. A human opens the vault and sees the tournament; a model traverses the same links as retrieval structure; git history makes every fact answerable to "when did we learn this?". It is the substrate the 2030 edition should retrieve from.
The vault's git history kept what the app's caches never did: 64 twice-daily snapshots of the whole tournament. These curves are read straight from that history.
Market-implied favourite for the tournament's best player, snapshot by snapshot.
The AI narrated sixteen kinds of editorial notes in two languages, from verified fact blocks only. It was never allowed to predict or invent a number — when a fact was missing, it stayed silent.
Predictions were snapshotted before kickoff, immutable after, and self-graded on the page — including where the market beat our model. Honesty was architecture, not a disclaimer.
Mid-tournament we A/B-tested narration models on identical prompts, measured cost and grounding, switched, and switched back. The pipeline outlived every model choice.
The app was built in-terminal with an AI pair — human intent, machine leverage, verified output — and shipped through tests, CI and production, chapter by chapter.
Ship-dark env gates, rate limits, token caps, an owner dashboard. The AI layer ran for weeks in production without a runaway bill or a hallucinated scoreline.
At the final whistle the site closed itself — the champion gate is derived from data, not a deploy — and the tournament survives as a vault any human or model can read in 2030.
